In 1901, a 64-mile railroad spur was completed from Williams, Arizona to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. Tourists from around the globe could now gaze upon one of the grandest natural wonders in the world. Unfortunately, the first tourists to see the canyon didn’t have a decent place to eat or sleep. The Fred Harvey Company and Santa Fe Railroad opened El Tovar in 1905. This is a wonderful story you don’t want to miss!
